About Simon
Simon suffered from Cystic Fibrosis, received a liver transplant aged 16, a double lung transplant aged 29 and then in January 2016 was diagnosed with Cancer. Throughout his life he was given incredible care from hospitals including Great Ormond Street, Papworth, Addenbrookes and later from North London Hospice. Sadly Simon passed away aged 33 in July 2016.
Legacy
The legacy Simon has left behind should be an inspiration to all. He wasn’t the most academic, yet he could build computers, websites and produce music using incredibly technical computer programmes. He wasn’t the most religious, yet he inspired many people to go to synagogue as part of his Friday Night Rock project. He wasn’t the healthiest, yet he travelled the country playing music in a variety of bands and never allowed illness to stop him doing what he wanted to do. He wasn’t the richest yet he dedicated time and effort into raising money for many different charities.
Giving
During Simon’s fight against Cancer, along with many other projects such as designing and selling t-shirts and other merchandise to raise money, Simon played a major part in organising a fundraising event which went on to raise over £20,000. He was passionate about raising money for charities; the Simon Cooper Foundation raises money for specialist medical care providers and hospices associated with Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis and life limiting conditions.
